Today in Movie History: January 9

Just one entry today, from the Hammer vaults. Dracula: Prince of Darkness was the second sequel to Hammer’s original Dracula, and the first to welcome Christopher Lee back to his signature role. (1960’s Brides of Dracula did without him.) It’s good bodice-ripping fun for those so inclined, and generally regarded as one of Lee’s better turns in the role. It opened in the UK today in 1966.
